Over the past 10 years, about 65% of medical school applicants majored in biology or another physical science. But at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, more non-medical majors are getting into medical school. In fact, 40% of the university's admissions are now from non-science backgrounds.

As medicine becomes more complex and technical, memorizing scientific facts will be less and less advantageous.
